Girl in Bukit Bintang

Travelling with my girlfriend means having a subject to shoot. And I get to pose her as much as I like. This is a compilation of some of the shots of her taken in Bukit Bintang during our trip to Kuala Lumpur.

With the exception of one taken on the Leica M8, all of these photos were shot on my D40 with the 18-55 mm kit lens. Shooting with my very first camera that got me started in photography made me nostalgic. It also spurred me to look back and think of the progress I have made.

I also did a couple of sets featuring monochrome and colour photos taken in Bukit Bintang.

Sometimes we need to unwind and just have fun.

When you are in Malaysia and you see a Ramly burger stall, the only logical thing to do is to get one. You can find Ramly burgers in Singapore, but they taste nothing like the authentic Ramly burgers you get across the Causeway. The look on my girlfriend’s face says it all.

Frozen in time

This is my favourite shot from the series, and it happens to be the only one that came from the Leica M8. It has been a fun experience getting used to the Cosina Voigtländer Color-Skopar 21 mm f/4 P lens. I really like the 28 mm field of view that it gives.

Although the lens speed of f/4 can be limiting at times, you can make the shot work since it is a wide angle lens. And in this case, having to take a longer exposure injected motion blur that brought life to the shot.

We went cafe hopping during this trip and found two gems in the form of Tous Les Jours in Wolo and Acme Bar & Coffee. I’ll be sharing our experiences at these wonderful places in my next posts.
