My horoscope – Leo
Some people have a habit of checking their horoscopes. I don’t. However, curiosity got the better of me today and I browsed a write-up on my horoscope, Leo.

Surprisingly, the profile is pretty close to who I am.
Characteristics:
Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac, is the sign of generosity and nobility. It stands for self-expression and the unfolding of the internal power principle. Generous and self-aware, you are truly king of the jungle. The Sun defines the dominant traits of your personality and your basic character. This makes you a self-assured, magnanimous, and buoyant person who enjoys being the centre of attention, and others often see you as invincible, because your courage and charisma are so impressive.
You are the second of the fire signs, which makes you a strong-willed and courageous individual, with great leadership qualities. Your aura radiates magnetism and dignity like the rays around the sun.
You rule the fifth house of the horoscope, which is the area associated with pleasure, creativity, and play. Your desire to live out your emotions is powerful, and you constantly seek new ways of self-expression.
The mode of a Leo is fixed, which means that you are passive in your need for admiration, expecting others to naturally notice and approach you. You enjoy stability and comfort, and are generous in sharing it with others.
I do admit that I enjoy being the centre of attention, be it intentionally or unconsciously. That explains why I’m always keen to perform. I danced pretty often during my secondary school and university days.
Strong-willed is an understatement. I am stubborn, as my close friends would come to realise.
My emotions often resonate with what I do. I have dabbled in graphic design, digital art, photography and a little music-making simply to express myself.
Writing is another way to unleash my creative side. Playing with words tickle my brain.

Personality:
Leo is a Fire Sign, which gives them a fun-seeking love of life. Like fellow Fire Signs, Sagittarius and Aries, these people need to use their minds to solve the world’s complicated issues, and take action to solve various problems. Leo natives can usually be found doing this through the means of self-expression.
Leo is ruled by the Sun, which make them Sun-worshippers in many cases, or in touch with their own ego needs. On one hand, this can be very healthy, as these people can ask for what they want and need pretty easily. On the other, it can become troublesome, as Leo can veer into self-involved territory, ignoring the problems and concerns of others in order to meet its own. People born under this sign may need to bring extra awareness to this dynamic.
Leo is symbolized by the Lion, which gives this sign its courage, as well as its position as the “king of the jungle.” Leos generally have many friends because they can be very generous and loyal. They’re the life of the party, magnetic and self-assured, and can bring groups of people together for almost any purpose.
The areas of the body associated with Leo are the heart and spine and, as such, these two areas should be protected at all costs. The heart, in particular, is crucial to Leo’s functioning, and it’s advisable to have regular tests to ensure its health. Cultivating an exercise program can also help.
Challenges can arise when Leo becomes overly enamoured of its own achievements. This sign can be arrogant, inflexible or even lazy, as it assumes someone else will pick up life’s pieces. Bringing a healthy sense of humour to oneself helps to mitigate this tendency, as does learning to work with others in a cooperative manner.
Pride is important to me. While I don’t think I am arrogant, my behaviour borders that once in a while. When it comes to certain issues, I am pretty inflexible. The exception being when it involves people close and important to me.
As for laziness… I shall not even attempt to deny that I’m lazy.

Strengths:
- Ambitious, courageous, creative, faithful, generous, honourable, humorous, open-minded, organized, powerful, self-aware, resolute.
Weaknesses:
- Arrogant, authoritarian, egocentric, exaggerating, intolerant, jealous, narcissistic, proud, hypersensitive, vain.
Both the strengths and weaknesses are spot on.
Love:
This fiery sign is passionate and forthright with affections. When it comes to sex, you can expect the Leo to be adventurous, fun, and highly energetic. There is a definite line of division between sex and love for Leos. Mates are chosen for their willingness to allow the Leo to take the lead, shine brightly, and be independent. They look for uninhibited lovers who aren’t self-conscious. As accepting as the Leo is, a mate needs to be an intellectual equal to cut the mustard. Leos are loving, fun, and very giving to those in their personal life.
When it comes to love, I give my all and do not hide my feelings. The best is reserved for the special one in my life. Though, I shower care and concern without inhibition – to the extent that they might feel overwhelmed at times.
My partner needs to be witty and knowledgeable, and should possess a keen interest to learn.

Friends and family:
By far the most generous of the zodiac, Leos make loyal and giving friends. They’ll go out of their way to help even when it conflicts with their own schedules. The Leo is a strong, confident personality who has the ability to make almost everyone comfortable. Unassuming and gracious, they love to host parties and events. The Leo is rarely found alone – interacting is second nature. Close friends are chosen for their ability to keep up with the Leo’s energy along with a strong sense of dignity and a commitment to individual values. When family is involved, the mighty Lion will do whatever it takes to defend loved ones. Loyalty for the Leo is for a lifetime. They pride themselves on being there for family through thick and thin.
Loyalty is something I value highly. Close friends and family are held in high regard. They have the priority in my life and whatever I do.
There are so many people in the world. For someone to have the chance to be your friend, it is already something special. When these friends can clique with me and care for me and make me want to care for them, it means a lot to me.
Such strong bonds don’t come by easily and when they do, I tend to want to hold on to them and cherish them.

Career and money:
Leos are doers. “I will” is the key phrase for this sign. There’s a lot of energy packed into this sign, and they’re always going to be busy, regardless of whatever else is happening around them. They are ambitious, creative, and optimistic. It’s not enough for a Leo to just do the job. In order to suffice, it must be done to the absolute best of their ability. Once committed to an employer, they will go all-out, but the best situation for the Leo is to be his or her own boss.
Careers that allow for the Leo’s dramatic flair, such as acting and entertaining, are ideal. Such positions give the Lion free rein. Other occupations such as management, teaching, and politics are well-suited, too. Anything that puts a Leo in a leadership position will give this sign the opportunity to do what comes naturally.
Leos love to surround themselves with the things they fancy. Because money usually comes readily to the Leo, there’s always more where that came from. Money is meant to be spent as far as this sign is concerned – and spend they will. Generous in spirit, a Leo will give away their last dollar to help a friend. They’re always confident that there will be more, and there usually is. There’s never a lack of work for a Leo. In fact, there’s generally more work available to them than they can keep up with.
My dream has always to be my own boss. I wonder what career path that would lead me.
I have often been chided for being a spendthrift. But I believe that where necessary, money should be spent.
