Initially, I was tempted to get a trendy looking case for my iPhone. Afterall, it took me a hard time to finally get hold of the phone. I wanted something simple and minimalist. However, upon testing, I realised that most cases are bulky and cover up the sleek design of the iPhone.
So I started going through reviews of iPhone screen protectors and body guards. I was excited! I would be able to get good protection for my phone and yet let it retain its looks…. until I came across people who got deadstrips on their screens upon removing the protectors. It seems that the inidium tin oxide, which is critical to the function of the touch screen, was peeled off along with the protector. The good news is, this occurrence seems to be due to a particular brand of protectors only.
My girlfriend got an LG Arena recently and wanted to skin her phone. I was intrigued. GMask is not recommended as there have been cases of the phones been scratched during the application process. The fact that the staff makes you sign an indemnity form to protect them should the phone be scratch makes me less confident of their workmanship.
Gelaskins was a good alternative to consider. It has stickers custom made for the iPhone. No need to worry about scratching it during application unless you’re a chicken. Pun intended. Gelaskins has a wide selection of designs and I am spoiled for choices.
Having used the phone for a couple of days caseless, I have grown to like how sleek it looks. I have a white iPhone 3G S and I really dig the white finish.
Unless there’s a Gelaskin design that catches my eye, I will be going caseless. I’ll keep the anti-glare protector on the screen though, because I can’t stand the fingerprints!

Ever considered some of the newer softcase designs from Capdase?
Hmm.. I have looked at those but I’m happy with my iPhone naked.
