It was a long journey for me to get hold of my iPhone 3G S.

I picked up my iPhone 3G S on Saturday. It has been a long wait that dates back to 10th July. I had been waiting eagerly for the launch of the phone and signed up to be notified by the telco when they launch the product here.

I was very disappointed when I received the email – the phone would be launched while I was out of the country. As I planned to purchase the phone with a renewal my phone line contract, I was unable to get the phone. When I returned from my vacation, the phone was already out of stock due to overwhelming response! Since then, I waited for a notification from them.

Then, I received an email last week informing me that the stocks were in. I rushed down immediately after work on the same day, only to be told that the phone has gone out of stocks. Again. I was made to wait to get a queue number only for the staff at the triage to tell me that they were out of stocks. They did not mention that there were limited stocks. If they did, I would have rushed down during my lunch break. There was no sign mentioning that to help people like me aviod queuing up for no reason!

Feeling upset by their inefficiency, I wrote a feedback email to the telco. Surprisingly, I got a call a couple of days later. However, those calls were missed as my phone was sitting snugly in my luggage bag. It was only when I returned from my vacation last Wednesday night that I noticed the call. The sales rep called me again last Friday to inform me that the iPhone reserved just for me has arrived! Joy!

My joy was short lived. Once again, I was let down. My old SIM card would not work in the iPhone. So the staff changed a new SIM card for me. However, as it was a Saturday, I had to wait till Monday for the telco to activate my new SIM card.

It’s worth the wait, I know, but this is really testing my patience.

Update: My SIM card has been activiated! Woohoo!
